About me
I did my undergraduate studies in environmental biology at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Bogotá, Colombia. For my undergraduate thesis, I won a scholarship to examine soil properties across mountain ecosystems from the Smithsonian Tropical Institute Research (STRI) in Panamá. I extended my stay at STRI, working on projects related to soil and plant ecology, REDD+, and agrodiversity. After that, I earned my master's in Biology at the Université du Quebec à Montréal on the effects of biodiversity and functional traits on root decomposition. I then moved to Universität Leipzig and the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) for my doctorate. In my doctoral dissertation, I focused on disentangling the influence of above-belowground interactions on temporal changes in the biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relationships. Currently, I am at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, working in the Department of Biodiversity, Macroecology, and Biogeography.
